Are you capable of juggling flaming torches with your eyes closed? (Metaphorically speaking, natch, but major bonus points if you're an actual wizard/circus star on the side.) Are you so over the played-out idea of herding cats, but curiously intrigued by the idea of shepherding mini ponies? (That's really more our kind of spirit animal around here.) Are you so Type A that you've pondered why there isn't a "Type A+" category?

If you've bellowed a resounding "A thousand times, yes!" to all of the above queries, then you might just be the perfect person to join the AMS Public Interest team. We're on the hunt for a project manager to work with the strategic, creative, and account teams to manage assigned projects. Involved from inception through project completion, the project manager is responsible for initiating proposals and project plans, then guiding the project through development and creative. Happily, there's an unlimited supply of fancy chocolate and Topo Chico to keep you fueled while you're making all the proverbial magic happen. The project manager is the liaison between clients, vendors, and the agency strategy and creative teams. A killer problem-solver on a daily basis, the project manager must be seriously badass at anticipating problems and recognizing opportunities.

The project manager requires superior organizational skills. S/he must be a total team player and insanely adept at managing the details of project plans and budgets. This lightning-quick learner is expected to become familiar with products and markets in which assigned clients operate to efficiently and effectively respond to client needs. Showing off excellent verbal and written communications skills is also an absolute must. Ultimately, the project manager is a creative problem-solver, exhibiting initiative and a take-charge attitude. And just to keep things extra interesting, the project manager should also be knowledgeable about interactive and digital media.

Responsibilities:

Schedule and budget management

  • Works closely with internal strategy/creative team to develop and implement strategic project plans, including project briefs, schedules/timelines and budgets
  • Manages time and financial resources to ensure client projects are on time, and within budget and scope
  • Maintains up-to-date project schedules in agency software by updating tasks and reviews as needed to align with scope and deadlines
  • Maintains working knowledge of pertinent software and peripherals needed to complete work

Client communication

  • Acts as the primary client contact for assigned projects, developing relationships with clients
  • Schedules and helps Managing Director to prepare for client meetings
  • Schedules and takes notes in client meetings as needed; follows up with summary of action items and next steps
  • Creates and submits client approval timelines
  • Handles monthly billing and reconciliation for all assigned projects
  • Always leaves the client wanting oh-so-much more AMS Public Interest in their life

Internal communication

  • Provides high-level overview of all assigned projects to Senior Project Manager weekly, elevates any project issues/concerns to Senior Project Manager as they arise
  • Develops agendas for all assigned project-related meetings, takes notes and follows up with action items and next steps
  • Maintains and files all project-related documents
  • Provides timely issuance of all documentation: proposals, estimates, timelines and budget reports
  • Checks in with strategy/creative team daily to ensure that project deliverables are clear and on schedule
  • Must research and stay on top of current and digital marketing trends

Resourcing and vendor management

  • Maintain balanced and strategic resourcing
  • Manages vendors associated with assigned projects; seeks out bids, prepares scopes of work with help of strategy/creative team, develops and manages vendor contracts
  • Keeps vendors in constant awe of general Alchemy awesomeness factor

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree and at least 2-4 years experience
  • Familiarity with marketing tactics, creative development and internet technology preferred
  • Proficient with HTML and custom site admin and/or content management systems
  • Evidence of strong written and oral communication skills
  • Demonstrated success in client-facing project management role
  • Proven problem-solving abilities
  • Needs to be highly attentive to detail
  • Handles stressful situations and deadline pressures well
  • Plans and carries out responsibilities with minimal direction
  • Government/public sector client experience preferred
  • Hands-on creative media experience preferred
  • Willingness to don ridiculous costumes from time to time
